We didn't know what to write here so we asked each other a few questions.

Joe

JoeWhat are you most worried about?

Border crossings are my biggest concern. Explaining what we are doing is hard enough when speaking to someone in the same language, so we could be in for some interesting conversations.

Who is the better driver?

I have a clean licence.

Why do you want to do this, apart from having more 'us time'?

I think the challenge of organising and doing something like this is really exciting, and I'm sure whatever happens it will be memorable! We are also doing it for a worthy cause, which makes it all the more worth while.

What are you looking forward to the most?

At the moment, setting off. I anticipate it to be a massive relief when we actually begin the drive. I'm also looking forward to driving along the southern coast of the Black Sea in Turkey.

Where did the idea come from?

We are both students and we were looking for something different to do during our summer break. We went through a few different ideas some of which were a little ambitious. I think this seemed like something that was achievable but still a challenge.

What qualities do you bring to team veg oil?

With one of Ben's best qualities being sarcasm, I think appeasing offended strangers will be where I am of most use.

What will cause the most friction between us?

I think any issues surrounding navigation will cause friction. So things could get a bit tense.

What is Ben's worst characteristic?

He tends to boast about his driving ability.

When are you going to sort out your passport?

Soon.

What would be the worst item to forget?

My passport I think.

What's your favorite driving music, and will you agree on music choice?

Blinded by the light by Man Fred Man. There will be no option, it will be on repeat for the whole journey.

Ben

Who's the better driver you or Joe?Ben

I have witnessed Joe's 'parking', as well as his inability to hear any advice directed his way. I would say me.

Why organise a trip like this?

Because it's exciting and productive.

What is your longest drive to date?

Riga to Tallin last summer - probably only a few hundred miles.

What country are you most looking forward to visiting?

Azerbaijan

What's your favorite driving song?

Johnny Appleseed by Joe Strummer and the Mescalaros

What part of the trip do you expect to be challenging?

Crossing borders and dealing with breakdowns.

How many miles until the first breakdown?

2000 miles, just when the terrain becomes more remote.

How many miles until the first emotional breakdown?

We both know that won't happen.

Anything else you would like to get off your chest?

If we don't get the daihatsu to 100 on the autobahn I'm giving up.
